IAEJ Advisory Regarding Media Center Security

Members may have heard that a number of thefts occurred over the summer – three in the media center and mixed zone at the LFNCJ Final in Barcelona and photographers had gear stolen at Hickstead and at Burghley. From what we can gather these are opportunistic thieves targeting big sporting events, not just equestrian.

As a result of the UK thefts, CSI /CDI Olympia has been asked to install video surveillance in the photographers area in their media center. FEI Sports Directors have been advised to alert Organizing Committees of the recent problems and task them to ensure that there is security in place and, where possible, CCTV.

The IAEJ advises all members to use security cables on their laptops and make use of lockers in media centers.
