November 5, 2015. — It is with sadness and regret that we announce the death of long-time member Helga Eppler, who passed away on September 23, 2015 at the age of 79. Helga would have turned 80 next January.
Born in Germany, she moved to Switzerland in 1966. Horses were her life and her passion.During her younger days in southern Germany she mostly show jumped and to quite a high standard. However, in the 80s, she turned her hand to dressage. With her beloved Ahmad, which she brought up through the grades to Grand Prix level, she competed numerous times at the Swiss national championships. As an equestrian journalist she was a regular contributor to several newspapers and magazines, including Le Cavalier Romand, the Pferdewoche and Breeding News. She was always a welcome presence at international competitions, as recently as the Normandy WEG and this summer’s European Championship in Aachen, where her dry sense of humor was always appreciated by her many friends and colleagues.
